One of the things I campaigned against whilst running for election was the closure of the HMRC tax offices in Stockton and Middlesborough. I have not forgotten my promise to my constituents. That is why since becoming the MP for Stockton South, I have co-signed a letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking that he re-think the closures.

I have also taken part in a Westminster Hall debate on this issue, where I argued the case for the offices staying open in Stockton and Middlesborough, and told the Government how the job losses will have a harsh impact on my constituents and Teesside’s local economy.
